Teacher appreciation is coming up, the week of May 6th – 10th!! And like so many of you, I am so very grateful for the wonderful teachers in my Little Chefs life! They are truly amazing. So, put it on your calendar to give them a big THANK YOU for all they have done. Add in a printable or easy crafts to make it extra special.
I am the Head Room Parent for Little Chef B’s class. Since, he is my oldest, and this is my first experience with all of this. It has been, at times – overwhelming, stressful, but most of all…..it has been so much fun. I love going to Little Chef B’s class to help out, put together fun parties through out the year, and I have also LOVED working with these amazing teachers! I don’t know how they do it. It really takes a special person to become a teacher.
We thought up a really cute idea for Little Chef B’s teacher this year. Do you remember those cute questionnaires you had the kiddos fill out about daddy on Father’s Day last year? Well, we tweaked the questions and made up a fun questionnaire that the students will be able to fill out for their teacher. We will be putting all of these questionnaires in a photo album along with a picture and a drawing from each of the kids!! We are really excited about this gift! I think she will LOVE it, well I hope she LOVES it. (I hope she’s not reading this blog post!!)
Here is the questionnaire printable all ready for the students to fill out – Teacher Appreciation Questions
Does your school have you decorate the doors of your teacher’s room for Teacher Appreciation Week? Our school does this every year. It is really fun – the teachers, and the students LOVE it! I need some ideas. I have a couple of ideas that I have found….I’m just not sure what I am going to do as of yet. The Space door, from A Bunch of Boys, A Princess, and Me , I thought it would be cute to put “Our teacher is out of this World”. And in the little spaceships, put a picture of each of the students? And for the Horton Door, I found it on Pinterest, and I am not sure where this came from. It did not link me to a blog or website. So if this is yours, please let me know and I will link back to you!!! I was thinking of filling the door with truffula trees, best to Horton, and then putting the kids pictures on each of the trees. What do you think? Again, I hope Little Chef B’s teacher is not reading this post!!!!
Here is a pie chart door idea. Let me know of any other gift or door decoration ideas you may have! Another great idea if you would like to send your teacher a yummy treat – make up a batch of our Oreo White Chocolate Cookies! A good excuse to make these ohh so good cookies!!! You could also make her one of our Fold-Out Heart Cards, your teacher will love a homemade card!

This is the cutest idea! As a teacher, over the years I have received only a handful of gifts that I truly cherish, most of them are books like this from students. They are usually hysterical and mean so much more than a scented candle. She is going to love it!

I’m sure you can!! The key is to get as many moms as the teacher will let you have in the room that day to help you out! If it’s simply a dictation, tell the moms to write fast 😉 – If you are in a time crunch and you are going to have the kids write themselves, you can always send it home, have the kids fill part it out there (but then you have to worry that they will not bring it back in on the designated day). Either way, it may be a good idea to send something home beforehand and have the kids brainstorm ideas. That is usually the longest part of the process with 1st graders! Good luck!

Did you do the Horton door? I love it and our theme is dr Seuss! Would you mind sharing more detail on how you did it? I’d like to know how to do the enlarged elephant. Thanks for your help!
