The weather is getting warmer!! And my Little Chefs LOVE to play outside……especially if there is water involved! So we came up with a Summer Fun Sailboat that is one of those easy crafts for kids.
Water + Sun + Little Chefs = Hours of Fun and Happiness!!!
The Little Chefs wanted to do a fun activity outside today, and because we had just walked in the door from school……I had no ideas for an activity. I asked them to look around for an idea and find supplies to make something we could take outside to play with. They quickly found some old container lids. Perfect!!! We had an idea to create sailboats…..and what do sailboats need? Water! So, we also needed to make some sort of river for them to float down.
What fun this activity turned out to be!!! They grabbed the glue gun and went straight to work. A simple craft stick broken in two, with some Washi tape as the sail – within minutes my Little Chefs had their sailboats ready to go!
We took them outside for a water adventure. To make our awesome “river” – I had bought a few rolls of tin foil at the dollar store for another project we had been working on. We had an extra roll – so we rolled it out down the driveway, and folded up the edges. We put the water hose at the top and created a river just perfect for thier little sailboats.
This was such a fun activity and craft – Little Chefs LOVED it. It used recycled items, and it so simple to make and was so easy to cleanup!! The Little Chefs then started getting new and fun ideas of the possibilities of tin foil, they seemed endless!! They loved that we could mold it and create such a fun “river” for their cute (oh wait, Little Chef E told me I could not call them cute) AWESOME Summer Fun Sailboats!! I then had to put the camera away, because the Little Chefs realized how much fun the hose was as well, and lets just say we were all SOAKED!!!
Any other fun ideas you have done using tin foil? What other simple, yet fun activities do your kids like to do outside to enjoy the warm weather? How about our Trail Signs printable. And what better to have on a warm day then some Lemonade – try our Brazilian Lemonade, it will hit the spot!!

How fun! I’m definitely keeping this in mind for the next hot day. Paper kits are another fun thing to do on warm breezy days. I like projects like this that encourage recycling and creativity.

This looks like so much fun.. I am so going to try this out.. My son loves boats and we sometimes make paper boats and sail them in the pool. Soon they get wet and useless. This is a sturdy idea!
