General Conference for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints occurs the first Sunday in April and October. I have created a general conference packet to get to know the First Presidency and LDS Apostles to keep hands busy but hopefully not mouths as we watch. In this packet you will learn three facts about each person and will have a corresponding activity or food item to reinforce that fact.
In my home we watch conference on our television. I like my kids to listen but it can get long for them. Giving them something to do that connects them to the person they are listening to will help them make a connection to that person. They will want to listen because they will know something fun and interesting about that person. Last year I created journal printables for them to use while they listened. This is good for the older kids. This packet is good especially for the younger kids.
How to assemble your own packet.
- Print the Apostle Cards and then cut them apart. Set 1, Set 2, Set 3, Set 4, Set 5 (Rasband, Stevenson, Renlund)
- Print all of the pages linked below.
Pigeon Coloring Page
Condor paper airplane, Canard
Passport
Dance Coloring Page
Comic Strip
United States Capital Building
Newspaper
Thumbprint art example
Television Coloring Page
Sports balls coloring page
Folded Storybook
Jesus is baptized coloring page
Seek and Find
United States Map
Missionary Boy
Missionary Girl
Common phrases in 4 languages
Dairy picture matching - Collect all the items on this list.
- Assemble packets. There are a few things you might consider prepping ahead of time such as the passport and folded storybook.
- When one of the LDS Apostles speaks retrieve the packet and complete the activities.
NOTE: I do not know who will be speaking. During some talks there will not be a packet. Some packets may be left unused. If history means anything most of the First President and Quarem of the Twelve LDS Apostles usually speak at some point during each conference.
It is your choice if you would like to duplicate these items for each of your children. This is something I will be doing for my kids.
Here is another idea for a more simple General Conference Packet.

Thank you so much for this packet! I was wishing for a more simple packet that would help the kids feel connected to the prophet & apostles. Others I found were too much for my younger kids. Thanks again!!!

I love this idea. Are you updating it to include the new apostles?
Kimberly March 7, 2016 (9:45 am)

I was wondering if you were able to finish adding the new apostles yet? I love your site and the info!

Yes. I just updated this page with set 5. It will take you to another page with everything you need. Here is the direct link. https://fivelittlechefs.com/active-learning/general-conference-updates.html

I couldn’t get the new page/link to work that you posted for set 5. (New Apostles)

Set 5 has the same image as the main set. If you scroll down you will see it is different. This page tells you what you need to acquire for just set 5. I need to combine everything but this was the fastest way to get it up for everyone.

These packs are so fun! Thanks so much for putting them together and sharing them. I can tell a lot of work went into making them. I can’t wait to use them with my kids this weekend. Thanks again!

These were a lot of work. But it was fun creating them and my kids really like using them!

We have been doing conference bags for several years and I have been trying to find a way to make it more meaningful and not just busy bags. This is a perfect idea! Thanks for the inspiration!

I hope it works for you! My kids love them.

These are so great! Thank you! Just one note, Elder Oaks was a Utah Supreme Court Judge, not a US Supreme Court Judge. 🙂

Oops! Thanks for letting me know. I will try to fix that.
