This weekend we have the wonderful opportunity to listen to General Conference. To any readers who might not be familiar with General Conference or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, go here or here to learn more about both. I know that it is a struggle at times for the Little Chefs to sit and watch Conference. So each year we try new and fun ideas to help keep their attention while listening to the Conference talks. Here are a few ideas that we are using this year!
We created these printable labels of key words that the Little Chefs will be listening for durning Conference. Last year we cut them out and taped each one on a bucket of snacks. When that word was said, they would be able to take one snack from that bucket.
This year my sister-in-law gave me a great idea……we were both talking about how much candy and treats have been around our house the past while with Easter. So instead of recieving a snack or candy for each key words they hear, they would recieve a ticket. And at the end of Conference, I would create a “store” of fun things they could “buy” with thier tickets – a fun pencil, crayons, chalk, bubbles, anything I could find at the Dollar Store or the $1 bins at Target.
Another fun idea is to make a Conference Wall. We created these topics sheets that you can tape to your wall where you are watching Conference. The Little Chefs will each have a copy of the pictures of the Quorum of the Twelve of Apostles and the First Presidency, they can cut them out and when they hear them speak they put their picture under the topic they are talking about.
We also included with this fun printable packet –
- A General Conference word search
- A note taking journal for older Little Chefs (I think I may use this one as well!)
- A CTR Maze
- Lots of fun coloring pages
- Printable treat or ticket Labels
- Topic Sheets for a Conference Wall
- Pictures of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
These are just a few ideas to help the kids look forward to, listen and learn from General Conference. We hope you enjoy your Conference weekend!!

One of our favorite conference activities is making a word list before conference starts and when my boys hear those words they get a jelly bean. They are only 4 and 6 so this keeps them involved and wanting to pay attention :). My 6 year old did enjoy the conference packet his primary teacher made for him too!
Conference was fantastic this year…I can’t wait to get our May Ensign.
