I love Thanksgiving because it is a time when we get together with family and friends. We have three Thanksgiving meals that we attend, though not on the same day.
The first meal we have is with our friends sometime in November. We all used to live within blocks of each other but now we are not, in fact I moved the furthest away. This year was our 4th annual Fakesgiving-as we call it. My kids look forward to this meal every year because these are friends we can count on. These are my friends who brought freezer meals to me when Haley was first diagnosed with a brain tumor. They helped when before I even knew what kind of help I needed. They have kids my kids grew up with and had play dates with for so many years. These are true friends we are so thankful to have.
The second meal we have is with my family. This year we are missing two of my siblings but we do think about them and miss them when we get together. We usually Skype them and my Grandma sometime that evening.
The third meal is with my in-laws. Thanksgiving is an entire family reunion. Everyone comes into town to party for an entire week. We do at least one thing everyday with family. It is crazy and a lot of fun. My kids look forward to having cousins stay at our house so they can play all day and all night. We all crash and burn the Sunday after when everyone has gone home.
I also like spending Thanksgiving day looking through the ads. It is the one day I go out and buy a paper to look at the ads. I do not like shopping so when a lot of the toys are new to me. It gives me ideas and my kids ideas for Christmas. I actually prefer to get the online deals because I can hide the gifts easier from my kids when they arrive and I can do it in my warm pajamas. But, for those of you who do like to go out here is a fun Black Friday Bingo. Take along to do as you wait in the lines and as you go from store to store.
