I love buying a toy that can be used for many different things. One such item is a Kiddie Pool. There are so many fun activities you can do with it to keep the kids busy for hours at a time in the summer.
Swim!
This is the intended use of the pool so add some water and jump in! Splash as much as you want because it’s ok if the water gets out of the pool.
Buckets and Cups!
Add buckets and cups to pour water from one to the other. Of course they will eventually use the bucket to pour the water over their head or a friend’s. Make sure you have your camera ready for that fun shot!
Boats!
Make your own or add boats to race from one side to the other.
Bubbles!
Add bubbles to the water with either bubble bath, baby shampoo or mild dish detergent. Mix one gallon of water for every one cup of detergent. Add glycerin that you find in drug stores to make the bubbles stronger. The more bubbles the better! Giant bubbles with hula hoops are even more fun.
Does it float?
Fill a bucket with random objects from around the house or yard. Fill the pool with water. Put one item in the pool at a time after guessing if it will float or sink.
Ice!
Add some small toys to the pool, scattered all over the bottom. Add bags of ice to cover the toys. Use your toes only to find and pull out the toys.
Paint!
Put a blank piece of paper inside the pool. Use paint, stamps, straws, marbles to paint a beautiful picture. Clean up is easy, just add water to the pool to rinse it out.
Ball Pit!
Fill the pool with many plastic balls. Jump in and have fun! Set up two kiddie pools and throw the balls from one to the other. Split up into two teams. Each time has one pool as their home base. Split the balls evenly between the two pools. When the game begins try to throw the balls from your pool into the other. First team to get all balls in the opposing teams pool wins.
Sand!
Add sand to the pool to use as an inexpensive sand box.
Dirt!
Fill the pool with dirt and add in trucks and cars to make a city.
Bring on Summer!
Go on, dust off your kiddie pool to get ready for this summer. Do you want even more ideas? Here are a few more kiddie pool ideas.
