We had a great opportunity to try Fun Bites! My Little Chefs were SUPER excited when I showed them the Fun Bites website with a short video of 2 kids using the product. There are two different shapes, squares and hearts. (You can make the hearts into sail boats!) When our Fun Bites came in the mail they were anxious to try it right away.
The Technique: Fun Bites has two parts; the Cutter (which has the handles), and the Popper (which pops the food out of the Cutter).
- Use a cutting board or a plate larger then the Fun Bites.
- Place your food on the flat surface then place the Fun Bites Cutter on top
- Use a rocking motion while applying pressure back and forth 5-6 times. You want to cut through the food.
- Place the Popper inside the Cutter and pop the small pieces out.
Our Experience: The first time my Little Chefs tried using Fun Bites they were not able to cut through anything. I noticed they were not applying pressure as they were rocking back and forth. For me the pressure was minimal. The Little Chefs they needed to get their shoulders over the Fun Bites to easily apply pressure as they are rocking. Once we figured out this trick the fun began. Each day at lunch we tried cutting our meal with the Fun Bites to see if it would work. This became a game! They wanted to try cutting everything they ate!
We have cut pizza with Fun Bites.
We have cut chicken with Fun Bites.
We have cut cheese with Fun Bites.
We have cut a quesadilla with Fun Bites.
We have cut an apple with Fun Bites.
We have cut a sandwich with Fun Bites.
The BEST thing I have discovered about Fun Bites is the size of the bites is perfect! Little Chef H refuses to eat most things (she is at that stage) but because of the size of the cut pieces they fit in her mouth perfectly. She is able to feed herself and have fun doing it. She feels like a big kid! She is eating things I am not normally able to get her to eat. Fun Bites figured out the perfect size for finger food and made an easy way to cut 12 pieces at once! We had a great time and will continue to use Fun Bites!
