Recently we needed to make a trip up to Bountiful to pick up some shirts for the Wasatch Back Relay. I decided it would be fun to make a day trip out of it and find a fun park to visit. We found Legacy Regional Park located in North Salt Lake. My son was so excited to get out and play because of the climbing sets of the park, as well as the splash pad.
Where is it located?
1140 West 1100 North, North Salt Lake
How much does it cost?
FREE!
Is food allowed?
Yes! This is a public park. There are multiple pavilions that are available for use.
Are strollers allowed?
Yes!
How close are the bathrooms?
Bathrooms are located just steps from the playground. They have flushing toilets, and running water.
Is there a picnic area?
Yes! There are 3 pavilions throughout the park. You may also bring your blankets and chairs to enjoy all the grass.
Are there shaded areas?
The only shade is under the pavilion, which is why I like to bring my sportbrella on sunny days.
What should I expect?
The parking lot is just steps away from the bathrooms. The playground has a splash pad located just to the south of it. The ground, of the playground, is a soft bouncy material which I have never experienced before. It was very comfortable and easy on the kids when they jump, or if they fall. They are LOTS of grassy fields around. There are a couple soccer fields, and grass as far as you can see. There is so much room for all the kids to run around and expend their energy. The splash pad, like others, has certain hours of operation (see picture). It also has shower located, and attached, to the bathroom building. I thought this was a neat feature. Not sure my kids would get dirty enough for it, but great to have if you need them.
Any safety concerns?
I am always cautious of kids drinking the water at the splash pad. Most splash pads recycle their water through. As always, the playground equipment may get hot from the sun. Be cautious of this with your children.
Overall opinion?
We loved this park. It has equipment that we have not experienced at any other park. It is definitely worth the drive. Grab some friends and head over. You can have a large family reunion, birthday party, etc. There is plenty of room for your kids imaginations.
Anything else I need to know?
Bring some lunch with you and enjoy the weather. When we went it was pretty windy, but didn’t bother the kids at all.
