We are excited to share a park that has both a traditional playground and a splash pad.

Is food allowed?

Yes! This is a public park.

Are strollers allowed?

Yes! In fact there is a paved pathway that pretty much goes around the park. I did see people out there doing laps for exercise. But this isn’t advised when you have other kids on the playground and/or splash pad.

How close are the bathrooms?

Bathrooms are located in between the playground and splash pad areas. They have flush toilets with running water, soap and a hand dryer. Of course because of the water from the splash pad the bathrooms get kind of yucky in the summer.

Is there a picnic area?

Yes! However, there is only one pavillion at this park with 4 tables. Get there early if you want dibs on it for free, or call the city to rent it for a fee.

Are there shaded areas?

The only shade is under the one pavillion. This park has very young trees. Depending on the time of day you go you might get lucky and catch some shade from the bathroom building. But, do not expect shade. I strongly advise you bring an umbrella or something to create your own shade.

What should I expect?

My kids start at the splash pad during the summer. When they are cold (because the water is not heated) or because they want a change they migrate to the playground. They seem to stay longer at the splash pad when we bring buckets, cups, beach balls or any type of water toy.

There are three benches around the splash pad and two around the playground. I thought the benches seemed unusually far away. To get to someone sitting on a bench the kids need to go out of the designated play area and across the cement pathway. This isn’t a big deal for my older kids. But for my little ones it is too far so I find myself standing inside the play area so I’m not in the way of those walking on the path. There is a lot of grass around each area. It would be very easy to bring a blanket to sit on when all the benches are taken.

Any safety concerns?

As always playgrounds are heated up by the sun and may be too hot to play on in shorts in the middle of the day. Be cautious of the water from the splash pad just to be safe. Jumping from splash pad to playground is fun for the kids, but because of the building located in between each area line of sight is very difficult. I found myself jumping from place to place with my kids to make sure they were safe.

There is concrete just outside the designated splash pad area. I saw many kids slip on it on their way to talk to their parents. Remember to walk if you are not in the designated splash pad area.

The playground does have wood chips which poses a problem with bare feet or shoes that the wood chips can get into.

Overall opinion?

This park is fun because of the options. As a parent with lots of little ones it is a difficult park to keep an eye on everyone if they do not stay together.

Anything else I need to know?

The parking lot dead ends. If you go to the dead end there is a bridge that takes you to a Community Fishery. Fishing permits apply here. There are tables around the water and a cleaning station. If you are looking for the bathrooms they are back over at the playground area which is a few minutes walk.
