5 Color Apps for Android – Learning Apps for Active Learning
I have been trying to teach my Haley her colors for almost 2 years. I started teaching her at the same age I started teaching my 3 older girls. For some reason, possibly her brain tumor, possibly not, she has not been able to learn them. I know some kids don't learn them until Kindergarten and perhaps I should just leave her be and hope that she will get it later but that isn't me.
I've since learned that she does know some of her colors but she is unable to recall the words when I ...

My cute Haley has some word retention issues because of her brain tumor. I've been reading a lot about how to help her and how to improve the damage done. One thing I can do is help her categorize her brain. When we play with animals we name a few other animals. When we eat bananas we talk about different fruits.
When I was young we went swimming everyday in the summer and we would play Categories. We would wake up and do our chores each morning, have lunch and then ride our bikes up a ...
Build Your Blog Conference Wrap Up
I had the great opportunity to go to the Build Your Blog Conference this past weekend thanks to Taste of Home. I had a plan of what I wanted to accomplish. I had questions written down for specific classes and for specific people. Thankfully I was able to get many questions answered and I was exposed to many new ideas.
There are many things I learned this weekend. I thought I'd share a few to get an idea of what a conference is like and what to expect.
Little America was fabulous and ...
Rainbow Fruit Parfait
One thing we love about the upcoming St. Patrick's Day is rainbows. My kids also LOVE fruit! This Rainbow Fruit Parfait is going to be perfect for our St. Patrick's Day dinner.
We just had our Valentine's Day Dinner and I'm sure you can guess it was a lot of work, but my kids absolutely loved it! My oldest said she wished we could do dinners like this all the time. It seemed like it was a day long affair. We were preparing or talking about it or crafting something new for it. I was ...
Lucky Clover: St Patricks Day Crafts
I love shopping the after holiday sales. This is where I find a lot of my fun crafting supplies. This past January I went to an after christmas sale and found some green burlap ribbon. I knew I could make one or two St Patricks Day crafts of some sort.
I love a white frame with a simple picture inside. I decided to create a clover out of the burlap ribbon. The tricky part is making a clover the right size when the ribbon isn't wide enough, but I was able to figure it out. If you ...
In just one week…BYBC
I'm so excited that in just one week I am going to BYBC- the Build Your Blog Conference. I was not planning on going but thanks to Taste Of Home for sponsoring me I am able to attend. Because I have been given this opportunity I am planning on learning as much as I possibly can. There are some questions I have always wanted to ask others more experienced and this is my chance.
I am getting some buisness cards printed so I can connect with other bloggers and affilliates.
I am ...
3 Ingredient Strawberry Ice cream
Growing up I remember the sound the ice cream maker made sitting in the bathtub while churning. I remember the sound it makes when it is almost done. My dad continues to make good homemade ice cream at some family dinners. I occasionally still hear that sound. I do not have an ice cream maker. Perhaps one day I will aquire one myself.
This strawberry ice cream is very strawberry! When it is strawberry season this recipe is easy to whip up but it does take some time to set up. It is ...
Kendama Classroom Valentine
At my kids school Kendama's are a hit! They are constantly talking about different styles we could buy and different tricks. Some kids play with it so much some teachers have had to take away these toys during class time! We thought it would be fun to make a Kendama Classroom Valentine.
Supplies:
sucker
chocolate kisses
aluminum foil
hot glue gun
bakers twine
triangle printable
Valentine printable
These are pretty simple to make. Aluminum foil is easy to wrap and mold ...
Free Ipad Apps for Active Learning – Numbers/Counting Ipad
I shared some Free Android Apps for Numbers and Counting a couple weeks ago. Now I am sharing some free ipad apps for active learning on the Ipad for Numbers and Counting. When comparing the Android and Ipad apps available I quickly learned that the Ipad has a lot more better quality apps. We have been testing a huge selection of apps for a while now. If there are too many ads we delete them. If my 4 year old cannot understand how to use the app we delete it.
After much testing we have ...
7 lessons learned from living without running water
Last week we had a leak in our water main. We heard water running through a wall downstairs on Monday morning. Once we verified water was not turned on inside the house we went outside to investigate. We found a puddle of water on top of our grass where the water main goes into the house. Judging by the sound of the water flowing and the pooling water outside we concluded it was probably a large leak. We didn't want the water to do any further damage it might have already caused and we ...
Valentine Advent Calendar – Scratch Off Style
Sometimes my kids need a little extra push to do something nice for their family members. We still have up our easy crafts love tree and that is working well. But I have discovered sometimes they like doing nice things for the same person over and over. My kids absolutely love advent calendars so why not create a Valentine Advent Calendar. Any way to countdown to their fun activity or holiday is very exciting. We have our countdown plaque which is fun to use with candy. The Valentine ...
