When I was young I remember making a bat sucker like this for Halloween. I remember it being an easy craft, quick and fun to make. I thought I could give my Little Chefs a chance to give it a try.
Bat Sucker
Materials:
- black construction paper
- scissors
- orange ribbon
- black ribbon
- black spoon
- 2 googly eyes
- sucker
First, use a bowl as a guide for your circle shape. Trace around the bowl, then cut out the circle. Fold the circle in half, then cut along the line to create two halves.
Using a pair of scissors cut the bottom part of the wings any way you choose.
Using a 2″ circle punch cut a hole at the top of the bat wings. Keep the circle to use for the ears. Cut the circle in half. Cut out two ears from one half of the circle as shown.
Attach two googly eyes to the back of a black spoon. Next attach two ribbons to the spoon.
To create the fangs cut out a square from a piece of white construction paper as shown. Attach with glue to the back of the spoon under the googly eyes. Attach the ears to the front of the spoon which will stick up over the spoon.
Slip your sucker stick under the ribbon on the front side of the spoon. Slip your bat wings between the sucker stick and the spoon as shown.Flip the spoon over and you are finished! This Bat Sucker ended up being easy and quick to make. Each bat is unique but that is what is fun. This is an easy last minute school favor or party idea students can make on their own in 10 minutes or less.
