This weeks we are excited to talk about the book The Gingerbread Man. This is another classic book that is many of us have grown up reading. The story is about a woman who wanted to do something nice for her husband because of all the hard work he does around their house and yard. So, she decided to make a Gingerbread Man cookie. Once she takes the cookie out of the oven it comes to life and run out of their house. The cookie runs past different animals telling them “you can’t catch me. I’m the Gingerbread Man”. Then he stumbles on a Fox. This Fox would like to help him over the water, but does The Gingerbread Man make it all the way across the water?
We wanted to have some fun drawing a Gingerbread Man. We decided to play a dice game. We have titled it The Gingerbread Man dice game. I know it’s a pretty imaginative title. We got this great idea from the Snowman Dice Game. Here are the instructions that we came up with. You will need one dice for all of you, or one for each player.
If you roll:
- ONE – Draw his head
- TWO – Draw his body
- THREE – Draw his face
- FOUR – Draw ONE arm
- FIVE – Draw ONE leg
- SIX – Draw ONE button
If you have very young kids, you can always draw a Gingerbread Man for them to look at while you play.
I’ve made Gingerbread houses with Little Chef K, but we haven’t baked Gingerbread Men. Little Chef K had a fun time using our Gingerbread Man cookie cutter. He, of course, wanted them to look just like the one in the book. We did the best we could.
If you have any other ideas for the book The Gingerbread Man, please link them in our Linky Party on Thursday.
