Yesterday we posted a fun summer activity – we made Cardboard Box Cars! The Little Chefs then “drove” their cars to their own drive-in movie!! What did we need to go with our drive-in movie adventure? Drive In Food!!
We found these great little, disposable tin containers that include a lid at the dollar store, in a package of 3. They were all excited to have their very own, even though they were identical!
We decided it would be great to compartmentalize the food using paper cupcake liners and a brown paper sack cut down to size. The paper bag we of course filled with popcorn! What is a movie without popcorn?!
What I liked best about creating our own compartments is we were able to control the portions. You could also customize the portions from the smallest Little Chefs to the biggest as well as customizing according to dietary needs.
The tins were fabulous because we were able to fill them ahead of time using the lids to close and stack them. Just before movie time we popped the popcorn, filled the bags and were able to add the bags to the tins quickly.
The Little Chefs absolutely LOVED the variety and individuality of the drive in movie food. They didn’t even ask for more! They were content with what they had, plus a drink on the side.
Drive in food can be whatever you want it to be. The way it is delivered is really what makes it special. I don’t think our Little Chefs will be able to watch another movie without using this method of distributing snacks. As a bonus, the tins are reusable! We were able to stack them up and store them for next time!
What kind of snacks do you like to have when you watch a movie?
