Taco Soup
Five Little Chefs - Taco Soup
Taco Soup is a favorite of Little Chef A. It is so easy to make, or basically put together. Most of the ingredients are from a can which makes it an easy pantry meal, or last minute meal.
We LOVE the Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners. It makes clean up so quick and easy. Little Chef A is able to put the liner in herself and spray it with nonstick spray.
With her newly aquired knife skills she washed and cut the celery and the carrots into bite ...
Cauliflower Soup
Five Little Chefs - Cauliflower Soup
The Pea Soup went over so well Little Chef C decided to make Cauliflower Soup slso from Chef Robert. The final product should have been the soup with lobster in the middle and an herb-lemon oil drizzle. We had the cauliflower head, but not the lobster. Instead of packing everyone up and going to the store we decided to make it without the lobster. We had the intention of making the herb-lemon oil drizzle, but we completely forgot until ...
Cream Puffs
Can you believe these cream puffs were made and decorated by Little Chef A? We have never made these before. She did a wonderful job following directions and executing the frosting. Little Chef A made these with Grandma which made the experience even more memorable. The ingredients are very basic for the puff; eggs, butter and water.
Water and margarine were added to a saucepan and heated to a rolling boil.
Little Chef A added the flour and stirred as hard and as fast ...
Product Review: Curious Chef Oven Mitts
Five Little Chefs - Curious Chef Oven Mitt Review
We were not too far into this experiment when I realized my Little Chefs were not able to take pans in and out of the oven safely because they did not have oven mitts that fit. Sure they could use the adult sized ones, but their little hands were swimming in the mitts. Because of this, they did not feel comfortable pulling anything out of the oven alone. They did not have a good enough grasp of the pan. If they were not confident in ...
Mizithra Browned Butter Pasta
Five Little Chefs - Mizithra Browned Butter Pasta
I love recipes with very little ingredients, especially when we are pressed for time and need to eat and run. I really believed this time I would be right and it would not take very long to complete this recipe. Amazingly because of how this recipe is put together we did it!
Little Chef D was so excited to make this recipe she stopped participating in the 'show' she was putting on with her sisters and grated the cheese in her ...
Homemade Caramel
Five Little Chefs - Homemade Caramel
I knew from the beginning this recipe was going to be difficult and could end in disaster! I was feeling brave and patient at the same time so I agreed to take the plunge and let Little Chef A make Homemade Caramel from My Baking Addiction.
She gathered the ingredients. We read the directions over and over again so we knew what came next. I thought this was a good idea. I thought this would prevent the disaster from happening. Sadly, I ...
Honey-Balsamic Lamb Chops
It's another Giada recipe day! Little Chef A likes pork chops. She found this recipe in her cookbook she received for Christmas, Giada at Home: Family Recipes from Italy and California. We have never tried lamb chops, but decided we could switch out the protein and it would still work.
I got out the food processor for her to use. I really should teach her how to put all the parts together so she can do it by herself. She put in the balsamic vinegar, garlic and honey.

Brazilian Lemonade
Five Little Chefs - Brazilian Lemonade
The first thing I need to say is, why is this drink called Brazilian Lemonade? Can't we just call it Limeade? I've seen different versions of this recipe and they all have the same name. WE don't understand why when the recipe clearly is using limes not lemons. That being said, this is one of OUR favorite all time drinks. Thank you Our Best Bites!
All the Little Chefs helped with a part of the cutting of the limes. One cut off the ends, another ...
Product Review: Vidalia Chopper
Five Little Chefs - Vidalia Chopper Review
In our qwest to find tools to help children cook we found the Vidiala Chop Wizard while shopping. I recall seeing it advertised on television. At the time I thought it would be nice to chop vegetables and fruits quickly, but wondered if it was made well enough. When I saw it in the store we had tried different cutting methods and a designated children's knife. They were still having problems cutting well, especially for my younger Little Chefs. I ...
Nutella Caramel Hazelnut Brownies
Five Little Chefs - Nutella Caramel Hazelnut Brownies
Little Chef D was ready to make another recipe with nutella. This time the nutella was not inside the batter it was melted and poured on top of the cooked brownie. We LOVE brownies, so we have high expectations for each new recipe.
Little Chef D measured out and added flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa powder in a bowl.
She whisked all these ingredients together. Little Chef D cannot make ANYTHING without ...
Fresh Pea Soup
Five Little Chefs - Fresh Pea Soup
Little Chef C has been reminding me everyday "we need to make Pea Soup." For Christmas she received Impossible to Easy: 111 Delicious Recipes to Help You Put Great Meals on the Table Every Day, which is where she found this recipe. She likes peas, but I think she was more excited about making a Chef Robert recipe.
I am seeing a trend. Chef Robert cooks with shallots and grapeseed oil. This recipe has a shallot which is becoming more familiar to ...
Fettuccine Alfredo
Five Little Chefs - Fettuccine Alfredo
It is Giada day again. We were talking about taking a vacation somewhere. The conversation turned to talking about going somewhere that has something to do with cooking. Little Chef A said "Giada lives in California, we could go there!" I'm pretty sure her thought was let's go to Giada's house, meet her and my dream will be fulfilled. I had to tell her that was not possible.
Little Chef A is chose to make Fettuccine Alfredo. If we made the recipe as ...
