German Chocolate Cake Frosting
While the cakes cooked, the Little Chefs made up the frosting. This was a different frosting then they had ever made before - it required cooking, whisking and adding other ingredients they were not used to in a regular cake frosting. They were not sure about it as they were adding in the ingredients, but in the end - they could not keep their fingers out of the mixing bowl!! They loved it!!

German Chocolate Cake
This is one of Chef Dad's and Chef Grandpa's favorite kind of cake. That being said, we needed to come up with a really good recipe that would "take the cake" with Chef Grandpa and Chef Dad. This German Chocolate Cake recipe has a rich chocolate cake, with a creamy oh-so-delicious frosting. The trick to this cake, it to make it at least one day before you will be eating, wait...lets not kid ourselves....devouring this cake! This recipe is, and we quote from Chef Grandpa, "the BEST German ...
Dutch Oven Baked Beans
Cooking in the dutch oven is something that has been Grandma and Grandpa's job. Recently we decided to let our Little Chefs help in the process. Today we are sharing Dutch Oven Baked Beans. We were all at their cabin for the weekend and let the Little Chefs each take a turn contributing to the entire menu. It was much easier having one Little Chef help at a time instead of all the Little Chefs in the kitchen doing their task all at the same time. I call this controlled chaos! Or...semi ...
Easy Appetizer Skewers
It seems when we grill my Little Chefs are starving! I don't think it is because it takes longer to cook on a grill but because we are starting to cook later then usual. If we are past our regular dinner time my Little Chefs get a little unpleasant. Instead of making them wait why not make appetizer skewers that can be eaten while everything else is still cooking. The key is to only make enough to for the kids to be happy, not enough to fill them up. We still want them to eat all their ...
Orange Fruit Dip
Summer is here, which means many BBQ's, family reunions and picnics. In needing a side dish for a family picnic, we decided to make up one of the Little Chefs favorite fruit dips. Our Orange Fruit Dip is so delicious and perfect for picnics on the hot summer days. It is very refreshing, and you can make it up to 2 days ahead of time - which is great when some summer days are all play and no work (including cooking!). This Orange Fruit Dip also is so incredibly easy, the Little Chefs ...
Patriotic Old Fashioned Candied Popcorn
This recipe came from my Grandma. I remember helping her make this popcorn when I was young, and she teaching me how to get the candy coating to "soft ball stage". I then remember this being the best popcorn ever made. I have never made this popcorn since I was was young, which seems like forever ago. And I was thinking about her the other day, and all the memories I had spending time with her. So I wanted to share a memory I have of my grandma with my Little Chefs, and make with them this ...
Breakfast Pizza
With school out and Summer is here - We have more time in the mornings to make lots of fun things for breakfast. We LOVE breakfast, and we needed some more ideas to mix things up from the typical pancakes, waffles, and french toast. I asked what the Little Chefs wanted for breakfast, on the first day out of school - and their response - pizza. The Little Chefs were so surprised when I agreed that pizza would be a great idea.....that is Breakfast Pizza.
To make our Breakfast Pizza, we ...

Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler
My Little Chefs LOVE to camp and to also spend time with Grandma and Grandpa up at their cabin. There is nothing quite like the outdoors - playing (REAL playing - with rocks, sticks and A LOT of dirt), roasting marshmallows on the fire, taking hikes, spending quality time with friends and family!!
One of our favorite things to do while at the cabin and while camping is cook with our Dutch Ovens. What makes the food amazing is not only the taste, and the simplicity, but the experience in ...
Drive In Food
Yesterday we posted a fun summer activity - we made Cardboard Box Cars! The Little Chefs then "drove" their cars to their own drive-in movie!! What did we need to go with our drive-in movie adventure? Drive In Food!!
We found these great little, disposable tin containers that include a lid at the dollar store, in a package of 3. They were all excited to have their very own, even though they were identical!
We decided it would be great to compartmentalize the food using paper cupcake ...
Yogurt Fruit Dip
My Little Chefs love to dip anything and everything, especially Little Chef H! I can get her to eat anything if there is a dip to go with it. Today we are sharing with you a Yogurt Fruit Dip with only 4 ingredients.
Little Chef A and C worked together for this recipe. They are realizing with a little team work recipes can be made even faster! I like that too! Little Chef A measured out the yogurt then passed the measuring of the sour cream to Little Chef C.
Little Chef A sprayed ...
Butterscotch Oatmeal Cookies
There is something about Butterscotch in an Oatmeal Cookie that is just delicious! The other night we needed to make a quick treat to take over to a neighbor's home. The Little Chefs were looking through all our recipes to try to find something new or something they had not made for a while. They came across this Butterscotch Oatmeal Cookies recipe, and they all insisted that just had to make this recipe, even though we had just made a batch of them last week!! And yes, the entire batch was ...
