Orange Creamsicle Buddies
Five Little Chefs - Orange Creamsicle Buddies
This week I was reading food blogs and decided to choose a few I thought they would enjoy. I then showed the Little Chefs the pictures and asked if they wanted to make any they saw. One of the sites was Cooking Classy where we found Orange Creamsicle Buddies. After explaining what they were to Little Chef D she was very intrigued how the orange got "into the cereal." No matter how many times and different ways I explained it she still was ...
Honey Lime Chicken Enchiladas
Five Little Chefs - Honey Lime Chicken Enchiladas
At one of my regular sites I visit there has been a buzz about these Honey Lime Chicken Enchiladas for over a year now, probably two. I always come across it and think we should make these, but then we don't. Finally we did it! I don't know why it took us to long because this is a super easy recipe.
Little Chef A and C made the marinade. They are so careful with measuring now they are getting to be very independent. ...
Vegetarian Skillet Chili
Five Little Chefs - Vegetarian Skillet Chili
After reading the ingredients I thought this was going to be an interesting meal. I wasn't sure how this could be a chili, but we were soon to find out.
Little Chef C peeled the sweet potato. It never fails, every time we peel a potato something drops in the garbage! This time it was the peeler! That was a first!
Little Chef D used the chopper for the onions and zucchini. My first thought was go ahead but I don't think you will ...
Southwestern Black Bean Salad
Five Little Chefs - Southwestern Black Bean Salad
We have been browsing other food blogs and came across Skinnytaste.com. We love food blogs because they have pictures of the final product which is how my Little Chefs choose their recipes like Southwestern Black Bean Salad. The ingredients are very familiar so I knew we would not have a problem that way.
It was pretty difficult for Little Chef C to use this juicer for the lime. She tried squeezing the two handles together ...
Fruit Salad and Star Anise
Five Little Chefs - Fruit Salad and Star Anise
We chose a cookbook, Easy Menus for Dining In (Better Homes & Gardens), and decided to make a few recipes from it. This book was great for the Little Chefs because it had a lot of pictures. They want to SEE what they will be making before they start. This was quite an enjoyable recipe to make. It was simple. All that was required was to make a simple syrup and cut some fruit. It was very evident my Little Chefs skills have ...
Seared Rib Eye, Salsa Verde, Dirty Rice
Five Little Chefs - Seared Rib Eye, Salsa Verde, Dirty Rice
Before starting this recipe Little Chef Dad said, "So what kind of pain and suffering are you doing tonight?" He knows first hand how much patience this requires and how close to breaking I sometimes get. That and the dishes, oh the dishes! How many loads in the dishwasher will we do today is another common question. Little Chef A is very good at drying all the dishes I wash by hand. She sticks with it until they are done which I ...
Pommes Anna
We found a recipe for Potatoes Anna, but the potatoes had to be boiled first, then sliced, then layered in a skillet to cook again. It seemed like a lot of steps so I looked for a different recipe for the same name. I found this recipe by Emeril.
The ingredients were easy to get together. Little Chef C knew which potato peeler to choose. She used the "Y" peeler last time and realized it was difficult. She did well peeling the potatoes even though there were peels all over the ...
Beef Skewers with Cherry Tomatoes and Parsley Sauce
Five Little Chefs - Beef Skewers with Cherry Tomatoes and Parsley Sauce
Little Chef A looked through her Giada At Home cookbook and marked some recipes she wanted to try including Beef Skewers with Cherry Tomatoes and Parsley Sauce. Little Chef C was the one who went shopping with me. She was so excited to mark things off the list when they were put in our cart!
The first ingredient that went into the food processor was the parsley. Little Chef A twisted and pulled it apart. ...
Taco Soup
Five Little Chefs - Taco Soup
Taco Soup is a favorite of Little Chef A. It is so easy to make, or basically put together. Most of the ingredients are from a can which makes it an easy pantry meal, or last minute meal.
We LOVE the Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners. It makes clean up so quick and easy. Little Chef A is able to put the liner in herself and spray it with nonstick spray.
With her newly aquired knife skills she washed and cut the celery and the carrots into bite ...
Cauliflower Soup
Five Little Chefs - Cauliflower Soup
The Pea Soup went over so well Little Chef C decided to make Cauliflower Soup slso from Chef Robert. The final product should have been the soup with lobster in the middle and an herb-lemon oil drizzle. We had the cauliflower head, but not the lobster. Instead of packing everyone up and going to the store we decided to make it without the lobster. We had the intention of making the herb-lemon oil drizzle, but we completely forgot until ...
Cream Puffs
Can you believe these cream puffs were made and decorated by Little Chef A? We have never made these before. She did a wonderful job following directions and executing the frosting. Little Chef A made these with Grandma which made the experience even more memorable. The ingredients are very basic for the puff; eggs, butter and water.
Water and margarine were added to a saucepan and heated to a rolling boil.
Little Chef A added the flour and stirred as hard and as fast ...
Mizithra Browned Butter Pasta
Five Little Chefs - Mizithra Browned Butter Pasta
I love recipes with very little ingredients, especially when we are pressed for time and need to eat and run. I really believed this time I would be right and it would not take very long to complete this recipe. Amazingly because of how this recipe is put together we did it!
Little Chef D was so excited to make this recipe she stopped participating in the 'show' she was putting on with her sisters and grated the cheese in her ...
